Proofing solution for Littlewoods
01 January 2004

Littlewoods, the UK's leading online and offline home shopping sales organisation, has upgraded its proofing system following consultation with Leeds-based, graphic-arts solutions provider, Fastek.
It has chosen ten EpsonStylus Pro 4000 printers, one Epson Stylus Pro 7600 and six GMG Colourproof Rips to produce low and high resolution digital proofs for Littlewoods catalogues from its two main titles -Littlewoods Even Moreand Littlewoods Xtra.
To ensure accurate high-quality colour output for its proofs, Littlewoods needed a solution that was European Colour Initiative (ECI) approved.
Fastek identified the ideal solution - Epson large format printers and GMG Rips. The GMG/Epson solution is the only inkjet system on the
market with ECI approval. Fastek also recommended the GMG/Epson solution for its ability to provide significant cost savings over
competing options, including the current Creo Brisque/Iris proofers, previously used to produce proofs for Littlewoods.
Terry Kinsella, Technical Adviser, Littlewoods, says, "The new system is benefiting Littlewoods with increased output and system reliability,
better quality and ECI approval. We have a long tried and tested relationship with Fastek, and since our main consideration is to have a
reliable service level it seemed a reasonable idea to ask if they could give us a proofing solution. They came up trumps with a very attractive deal that we subsequently accepted.
Barry Singleton, Sales/Marketing Manager, Fastek group says, "It's our aim to provide the most efficient and high-quality products for our customers. Littlewoods requirements meant that quality, cost and productivity were essential to ensure that they would achieve unrivalled proofs of their catalogues. We believe the GMG/Epson solution is an ideal solution for Littlewoods."
